Global Studies: Human Rights and Social Movements Emphasis

Do you aspire to a career engaging with international, national, and/or local issues situated within broader global contexts? Immerse yourself in the interdisciplinary study of human rights and social movements through the lens of Global Studies. The Global Studies: Human Rights and Social Movements emphasis shines a light on global movements and struggles. Students learn about human rights as a lived reality, as an expression of governmental power, and as a tool for social activism and political emancipation. A range of theoretical and practical approaches encourages exploration of key issues in our world including international migration and minority rights. Coursework is centered on the field of Human Rights Practice while including courses from other Global Studies programs and elective options spanning from history and sociology to geography, political science, and law. This emphasis is open to both Main Campus and Arizona Online students. Courses are offered in in-person and/or online formats.
