Global Studies: General Emphasis

Design your own pathway to the critical study of global issues. The Global Studies: General Emphasis is a flexible option enabling students to tailor their coursework around themes that crosscut the field of Global Studies. You will work with the Global Studies advisor to develop your plan of study. 

Do you want to take a comparative perspective on two or more regions of the world? Are you interested in exploring the world’s diverse religions and spiritualities? Do you want to explore the world’s borders from migrant rights and gender perspectives? What about the impact of global environmental changes on public health? Or the intersections of scientific knowledge and technological systems on a global scale? 

The General Emphasis offers the opportunity to create a unique emphasis area while also developing broad analytical, linguistic, and experiential competencies for understanding complex global challenges. Students will come away with a comprehensive understanding of global dynamics and the adaptability to navigate diverse professional and cultural environments.
