The Southwest Center is proud to invite you to join Peña del SurCo for another night celebrating Latin American music, community, and cultural exchange at the 4th Ave Coalition Space. This will be the first peña of the season, and the featured performers will be Peruvian ensemble Tradiciones.
La Peña del SurCo honors Latin American folk & popular music traditions from Argentina, Chile, and beyond while fostering a sense of togetherness and promoting intergenerational social cohesion through intimate acoustic and participatory musical experiences.
This project is led by PhD Ethnomusicologist and Applied Intercultural Arts and Health Researcher, Dr. Jennie Gubner, and her Argentine/Chilean folk music trio El SurCo. As an intercultural arts and health scholar, Gubner researches how participatory forms of cultural organizing surrounding Latin American musical practices can be leveraged to promote intergenerational community health and wellbeing.
This event is ADA-accessible, age-friendly, and open to everyone, so bring your friends and family! Che Cafe Empanadas will be selling Argentine Empanadas! They will have drinks for sale, but you are also welcome to bring your own! Admission is free! Admission is free
